Introduction
In activity 3 of Think Lab, we were given a task to express emotions only with the use of lines.
Warm Up Activity
The emotions that we were asked to portray in the warm up activity were
Crushed
Lazy/Lethargic
Falling
Horrified
Main Activity
For the main activity each individual had to pick 2 words from the given list and then present one of the visual expression in 3D form.
The image on the left is a 3D representation of the word 'Trapped'. Here, I used a cylinder in the middle and thread strands to show that the cylinder is trapped between the strands.
The 2-D representation of 'Trapped' shows a square box inside and the zig-zag lines represent the outside world. The zig-zag lines cannot reach the square inside which shows that it is trapped inside.
For growing, I represented the rectangular boxes going from smaller to bigger.
Reflection
It was at first difficult for me to understand the activity as I missed the morning brief and had to ask my group members for the explanation.
After understanding what to do, the motive behind the activity was still unclear.
My peers helped me in giving ideas and slowly I was starting to understand the assignment.
After coming up with drafts and suggestions from my groupmates, it got easier to visually express the emotions only with the use of a line.
I could play around with the thickness and length of the line to express the emotion rightly.
The activity was a great way to realise that only with a use of a line and manipulating its size and width, a particular emotion can be expressed even without the use of any colour.
Learning Mantra of the Day
Things can be explained simply instead of finding a difficult way
