Introduction
We carefully observed the organic form and used different mediums like charcoal, ink, oil pastels and ink to represent its texture, shape and color.
OBSERVATION AND REPRESENTATION
To achieve an actual visual representation of an object after observing we need to keep in mind the following things
Keep the object on white background to avoid distractions.
Keep the object at a reasonable distance from your eye so that the details are visible.
Prefer using natural light while representing the highlights of the object.
Use flash light to closely observe the texture on the surface.
VISUAL MEDIA
STRENGTHS
I was able to fill the form with its color by using wet medium like water colors easily. The application and color extraction was something I could do with ease. I was also able o replicate the texture on the inside of an apple quite well. This process was the most fun for me as after working with black and white compositions, we were finally able to fill color in our form.
CHALLENGES
The challenges I faced the most was making the inverted black and white composition with ink.
I was not able to capture the highlight area of the form by leaving the space white.
This can be improved by making an outline of the area that needs to be left white with pencil and filling the ink around it.
The muddiest point of the process for me was the use of glaze paper. Since we were supposed to cut the glaze paper with hand and not use any cutting tool, it was difficult to me to cut in straight line to capture the essence of the fruit.
KEY LEARNINGS
I learnt how to represent the form using charcoal sticks and making highlights by shading.
I learnt that it takes many different color extractions and trial and error method to achieve the exact color of the form.
Lastly it is important to practice in the mediums in which we haven't worked before to get better in it.
For future, I would want to work on the organic form given to me and explore it more on color and practice using glaze paper for representing the form.
